Dr Peter Zafiropoulos
Principal Dentist
Born and raised in Altona North, Dr Peter isn’t just your local dentist – he’s part of the community. After graduating with Honours in Dental Science from the University of Melbourne in 1990, he founded Altona Gate Dental in 1996 to bring exceptional, personalised care to his own neighbourhood.
With over 25 years of experience and hundreds of hours in advanced training across implants, orthodontics, cosmetic and restorative dentistry, Peter blends skill with genuine care. A proud Bulldogs supporter and devoted dad of five, he’s known for his friendly nature, steady hand, and ability to make every patient feel at ease – whether it’s a simple check-up or a complete smile transformation.
Dr Nicholas Eliopoulos
Dentist
Dr Nicholas holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Melbourne and a Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Western Australia. His approach to dentistry is centred on prevention – he believes that taking care of your teeth today helps avoid more complex problems in the future. With a calm and thoughtful manner, Nicholas focuses on delivering thorough, long-term care tailored to each patient’s needs.
Known for his straightforward communication style, Nicholas takes the time to explain treatment options clearly and work alongside patients to achieve their individual oral health goals. No jargon and no rush – just honest, considered care. Outside the clinic, he’s a passionate sports fan and loyal Richmond supporter who enjoys mountain biking, snowboarding, and keeping up with his energetic Australian Shepherd.
Carmen Cham
Oral Health Therapist
Carmen earned her Bachelor of Oral Health from the University of Melbourne in 2011 and has been a trusted and much-loved member of our team since 2012. With over a decade of experience, she provides comprehensive care for patients of all ages. Carmen has a particular interest in gum health and the prevention and management of periodontal disease, helping patients maintain confident, healthy smiles for life.
Known for her calm and caring nature, Carmen makes every visit a comfortable experience, especially for those who feel anxious about dental treatment. Outside the clinic, she enjoys quality time with her family and young son. When she’s not busy with them, you’ll often find her in the garden, nurturing her growing passion for flowers and nature.
